배당기준일 (baedang gijunil)

Dividend record date

Reviewed October 15, 2026

The day that decides who receives a dividend: you must be a shareholder on the record date.

배당기준일 (baedang gijunil) is the dividend record date: shareholders on the company's register on that day get the dividend. Because Korean trades settle two business days later (T+2), you have to buy at least two business days before the record date.

Many Korean companies used to set 31 December as the record date and decide the amount later. Since 2023 many have moved to deciding the dividend first and setting the record date afterwards.

Also called: record date · 배당락일 (ex-dividend date)
