ADX (평균방향지수) (pyeonggyun banghyang jisu)

ADX (Average Directional Index)

Reviewed October 15, 2026

Trend strength from 0 to 100; above 25 is usually called a strong trend. It doesn't say which way.

ADX was introduced by J. Welles Wilder in 1978, together with +DI and −DI, which measure upward and downward movement. ADX itself only measures how strong the trend is.

Readings above 25 are commonly taken as a strong trend and below 20 as no clear trend; +DI above −DI points to an uptrend, the other way round to a downtrend.

Also called: ADX · DMI · +DI · −DI
