ATR (Average True Range)
Reviewed October 15, 2026
How much a stock usually moves in a day, from its daily highs, lows and previous closes.
Average True Range, also introduced by J. Welles Wilder in 1978, averages each day's true range (the largest of high minus low, high minus the previous close, and the previous close minus the low) over 14 days.
JONBUR shows it as a percentage of the price and uses it to judge whether a day's move was large for that particular stock.
